The Amelie knit dress, sewing pattern is perfect for active little girls. A relaxed and comfortable dolman style, which will stretch with every movement, is a staple for a little girl’s wardrobe. The skirt can be pleated or gathered, just as you like and the sleeves can be finished off with ribbing or simply another knit fabric, such as interlock, which is stable and easy to sew with.
For ease of wear, I added the drop-waist to the design as this gives lots of movement room. Equally practical is the raglan sleeve. Unlike a set-in sleeve, the raglan puff sleeve is perfect for beginners, as there is no easing in, around the sleeve head. Finally, have you ever struggled with complicated closures? With KamSnaps it is easy and so pretty, that is why I made the most of them here. The closure for the Amelie knit dress works with two tabs which simply overlap each other. Pop the KamSnap on the center and its done.
You can use the same fabric for the knit skirt and the knit bodice or emulate the college shirt look by mixing and matching fabrics for the raglan sleeves and the body. Cuffs and the neckline of the Amelie knit dress pattern are finished with ribbing, for a comfortable and cute finish. Fabric Requirements:
The Amelie knit dress, sewing pattern is designed for 4 way stretch knit fabrics with at least 25% horizontal stretch and good recovery such as double brushed poly, bamboo poly, cotton Lycra.
• Shell: 50 cm / ¾ yard – (age 2 &3) and 60 cm / ¾ yard – (age 4, 5 & 6)
• Contrast Ruffle: 40 cm / 1/2 yard
• Cuff Ribbing: 30 cm / 1/3 yard
